CFC is the main responsible for the Green House Effect and the progressive destruction of the Ozone Layer:
- Chose products without harmful gases for the Ozone Layer (Aerosols, sprays, foams, insecticides, dehodorants, refrigerators, air conditioners, fire extinguishers, refrigerating circuits, etc..).
- Look for this symbol on the labels ![]()
- Avoid products with this on the label: CFC-11, CFC-12, CFC-13, CFC-14, CFC-115
- Choose products in pressure refillable containers
- Burning carbon, oil and wood produces carbon dioxide and acid rain
The high emission of heat raises the planet temperature
- Correct isolation of doors and windows
- Use radiator thermostats correctly. 19° is enough
- Use heating with moderation. It is not necessary to wear short sleeves in winter at home and at work. Use winter clothing
- Use alternative energy sources for heating (solar energy)
- To air the house open the windows widely for a minute, and not half open all day
- Take advantage of sun light through the windows. Rearrange furniture in your house and tables in the office.
- Paint the walls with light colours which reflect light.
- Switch off lights you are not using.
- Buy halogen bulbs of low consumption.
- Invest in alternative and renewable energy (eolic, solar).
- Lower the thermostat of the water heater and dishwasher. You will make them last longer.
- Use public dustbins and throw rubbish bags inside the containers. Close the containers to avoid bad smells.
- Do not empty car ashtrays in the street.
- Use containers and not illegal dumps.
- Separate rubbish at home: paper, glass, tins, batteries, industrial lubricants, etc.
- Separate paper from the rubbish at home (paper, cartons, newspapers, mail adverstising, cigarrete packs, etc.). In no time you will fill up a dustbin, empty it in the paper container or ask for it at the Town Hall (665-11-50).
- If you do not have a paper container in your area you can leave cardboard and wrappings folded and stacked next to the ordinary container.
- Use writing paper on both sides.
- Use recycled paper.
- Take advantage of advertising paper printed only on one side for notes and shopping list.
- Separate glass from the rubbish at home (broken glass, bottles, etc.).
- Throw it in the glass containers or ask for it at the Town Hall (665 11 50)
- Take a shopping bag or keep plastic bags for further use.
- Cut the plastic rings from the tin packs. They are a trap for birds and fish.
- Chose glass containers.
- Do not accept plastic when you do the shopping (meat, cheese, etc.)
- Separate tins from the rubbish and use the special containers in the street or at supermarkets, where you may even get a prize!.
- Also separate batteries and dispose them in containers or at the special shops (Photography).
- Use rechargeable batteries (you can a thousand times).
- Try to use electricity instead of batteries.
- Take car oil to a garage.
- Respect green areas, trees and plants. Do not destroy them it.
- Enjoy Nature. It is unique.
- Go on an excursion, chose a beautiful place, plant a tree and watch it grow.
- Help a Non Governmental Organisation.
- Do not litter green areas, the beach nor the sea.
- Use natural or harmless fertilizers and pesticides. Cigarrette nicotine is an effective insecticide.
- Do not throw cooking oil, dyes and toxic products down the drain. They end up in the sea.
- Use phosphat free or alternative detergents. Look at the labels.

- Do not make fire in the woods during the summer.
- Pick up after yourself when you go on an excursion.
- Do not wash your car near rivers or in plots.
- Respect forrest roads.
- The law limits a maximum level of decibles and schedule. Report if it is not followed.
- Check the exhaust pipe and gas emission of your car or motobyke. They produce noise and lead and pollution. Report if not followed.
- Use a bicycle.
- Use public transport and saving tickets.
- Share your car with other people who do the same route.
- Give away your used clothes.
- Go take a look around the Street Market of Castelldefels (Wednesdays).
- Leave out old furniture on Tuesday evenings.(Pick up day: Wednesdays).
- Leave out gardening remains on Sunday evenings. (Pick up day: Monday). Further treatment of these remains is used to make high quality fertilizers.
- Think if you are ready to keep an animal before getting one.
- Remember: It would never do it! (leave you)
- Do not buy protected and exotic species, or ones to become extinct.
- If you want a pet, visit the centres where they pick up animals. They will be thankful.
- Flea collars damage the nervous system and throwing them away is contaminating. An alternative is "Metropol", or putting brewers yeast and garlic in their food.
- Do not buy articles related to protected species (rhinocerous, horns, elephant tusks, furcoats, dried turtles, choir, etc.)
- Visit the "Pipi-Can" when you walk your dog. They are places where they can do their things and you can take care of it easily, if not you may be fined, ask for information at the town hall (665-11-50). The rest of the community will be thankful.
- If you are a hunter, you should know that the lead of pellets pollute the ground and water. Try to change your shotgun for al telephoto lens.
- Respect the law, hunting areas and seasons. Report if not followed.
- Respect the animals. Do not enjoy making them suffer.
- Destroy furtive traps.
