Air Traffic control tower

One of the most important objectives of the new airport is to be able to satisfy the needs of people and the airline companies, as much qualitatively as quantitatively.

The construction of the third runway and the extension of the landing ground, make a new air traffic control tower necessary, that has a more direct visual access to the three runway, and that in addition can be valid for future extensions of the airport.

The new control tower will allow to take care of a traffic of 90 operations per hour, as well as to lodge the necessary technology and the human equipment, in the best conditions.

How it is:

The structural concept is based on a concrete mesh in form hyperboloid. This same mesh is the one that maintains to the superior plants and the elements of Fuste.

The Tower is made up of three parts differentiated clearly: the superior foor, the inferior floor, and fuste.

The superior floor of the Tower are developed in 5 levels. Highest it is the field of antennas located in the roof of the lantern; below the lantern is technical floor, the floor of rest and simulation and the conditioned air floor.
The field of antennas is communicated with the lantern by stairs by telescope integrated in the false ceiling of the same one. The lantern is developed in octogonal form with a perimetral corridor that is used for the cleaning as crystals and the maintenance as the command teams.

Greatest of the superior floor it is the rest and simulation, that it tells on an outer diameter of about 21.60 ms this level elevators arrive both that communicate with the inferior plants. In this level also are the room of simulation, the quarter of ticket offices, two rooms for the night rest and the room of rest.

The Fuste one is made up of 2 structural systems. By a side the concrete mesh that holds the superior floors and, in contrast, a central nucleus made of aluminium structural profiles. The transparency and lightness of the central structure reinforce the power of the mesh like element that characterizes the Tower.

In the ground floor is the main level, in the middle of the building. We access through the fence area of the outer ring. The entrance hall of double height connects with the Fuste foot who communicates with the first plant and the superior plants. Next to the entrance hall they are located cafeteria, security and the plants of formation.
In the outer ring of this plant the porticada zone and the area of facilities of the building are developed to 83 seats of parking in.

The inspiration comes for:

Improving the position of the tower with regard to the new geometry of the airfields.

Making it compatible with the future satellite building

Obtaining an altitude compatible with the aeronautical limits and a maximum visibility of the area of maneuvers.

To facilitate the access from the exterior of the airport through the new road B-320.

Soundproofing it in the face of external noises, improving its habitability and comfort, with the application of designs of ergonomics in the jobs, exploitation of the natural light, etc. with the consequent energetic saving.
